STILLS & LIGHTING

This day in my Digital Tools course, I got the opportunity to shoot photographs with camera tools (light box, mounts, color sheets, and other lighting). I brought in inanimate objects around my house. I chose small objects that were aestheically pleasing to me. My favorite tools to use were the light box and the mount. Using the light box I got to play with shadows and highlights to give the photograph depth. The mount gave me control and stability to take the most crisp photos. All these photos were shot with my Iphone 7. I used Photoshop Express to edit some of the photos.

PORTRAITS

These photos were taken in my room with an Ikea floor lamp and a pink rope light. I had a tiny photo-shoot with my cousin, Lindsey. None of the photos are full-face portraits because I wanted to give the illusion of mystery. I maneuvered the light at different angles to give the photos more depth. The highlights in her lip-gloss and shadows of her face structure, direct the viewers eye throughout the photo. All these photos were taken with an Iphone Xr.

FILM STYLE

As a kid I remember taking a disposable film camera to school and taking pictures with all my friends. Unfortunately I would either take months get the film developed or worse, not at all. Now, the beauty of technology lets you portray the nostalgia with the click of a button on your phone. I shot all these photos with the HUJI app on my Iphone 7. The gritty effect combined with the saturated colors, makes you feel as though these photos were taken a long time ago. I also enjoy the random light effects that old disposable cameras used to give you because it gives an element of genuine, in the moment photos. The time stamp is also a film style staple that ties the photo together.
