BAND POSTER

For this digital design project the goal was to create band poster derived from a band name generator. After several options, I settled on BOTOX DETOX. I decided to create a  tour band poster with tour dates and special guests (other generator names I had fancied). I played around with the background first to see if ideas came to mind. I came across this diffused gradient look that reminded me of sand. I went with a beach-psychedelic-rock band vibe. The hexagon pattern I remembered from a class lecture on shapes. Since both words in the name ended with "X" I decided to join them at one letter. The letters contrasted well inside the shapes so I put one in each one. The lady marble figuring symbolizes a mermaid relaxing in the sand and it flows well with the 3-d shape pattern. The white accents throughout the whole poster are all flat and line shapes as a contrast to the dimension in the rest of the piece.

GIF'S

As a Tumblr (blogging site) addict I had attempted my fair share of GIF creations. There is something about moving pictures that brings joy. In my digital tools class we got the chance to make my dreams come true. The assignment was to make gifs of artists that inspire me. My GIFs are an homage to: BASQUIAT, SHINTARO, and KAHLO. Jean-Michel Basquiat art reminds me to not take myself to seriously and expression comes in many shapes, forms, lines, and words (even if people don't understand you). Shintaro Kago reminds me that creepy, bad, and nasty things can also be funny and cute. Frida Kahlo reminds me to seek deeper meaning within yourself and what is meaningful to me and bring it to life in my art.

WEBSITE

I created my first website/portfolio in my Digital Tools course. The first part of the assignment was to create a mood-board with: website inspirations, colors, type-faces, keywords, pictures, textures, projects...etc. I created my mood-board on Tumblr. I found tons of inspiration online and I created a stylized website where I could display my work. For it being my first site, I am very proud of it. I have since updated my website design and will continue to do so as my design taste changes.
